About the Author

Harry Dahlstrom is the author of The Job Hunting Handbook, Surviving A Layoff, Now Hiring— Apply Yourself, Turn a Job Fair into a Job Offer, and other titles. He has been writing about job search for over twenty-five years.

Harry began his career as director of recruitment and marketing at a small New England business college. During the months of February, March and April he presented a series of resume-writing and job-search workshops to help graduating students apply business-marketing principles to their job hunt.

When the college merged with a larger institution, layoffs followed. In addition to delivering the sad news to staff and faculty, Harry helped with one-on-one resume writing and job-search planning.

The Job Hunting Handbook was Harry’s first book. Since 1985 it has sold over 7 million copies and is probably the second best-selling job book in the United States. Over the years The Job Hunting Handbook has gone through 15 major revisions and several design changes. But, like the very first edition, it includes “everything you need to know in 48 easy-to-read pages.”

Before graduating from Harvard University, Harry served two tours with the U.S. Navy. He also worked as a news reporter and advertising copywriter.

Today, Harry lives in Massachusetts with his best friend and wife, Gail. They have three grown children.
